If you want more Dolly-isms I recommend the 2012 book she wrote called “Dream more : celebrate the dreamer in you”. It’s based on her popular commencement speech at the University of Tennessee. It’s a slim book and I read it in about an hour. I recommend!

Beautiful soul. Beautiful talent. Beautiful wisdom. The world will deeply miss her.

This was lovely! It is really fun to see some of Dolly’s amazing quotes with Grace’s style. I found the “official” 9-5 music video on YouTube. She and her band are having SO much fun. It brought me so much joy!

She was a writer and her character really shined through her words (like the ones above). In my Post-Parton grief last week, I spent a ton of time watching old video clips of her. In interviews she always had the right words when handling really invasive questions about her body, her looks, her husband, and other personal matters. She was funny and self effacing– but never in a way that gave away her power. I have so much love and respect for her! PS Bette Middler coined “Post Parton” on social media last week, not me.

What I love is the discovery nearly every day since of the amazing things she did without any fanfare. She helped so many people and places that her music and film career are nearly a second-thought. As someone from that part of the country, I know firsthand the impact she had on a people and a place that are often forgotten or sneered at (looking at you, JD Vance.) Dolly did not forget and in the same way the smoky mountains will always endure and be here long after we are gone, Dolly’s legacy is the same–thank you, Dolly.

I learned from BlueSky that Imagination Library offers braille books for kids and blind parents too! Here is the article that was shared: https://www.pathstoliteracy.org/dolly-partons-literacy-legacy/

She was an amazing human <3 She possessed such wisdom, grit, and generosity – and fantastic musical ability to boot! Eighty years of Dolly wasn’t enough. She will be missed.

One of a kind!

Beautiful. The biggest lesson in life: why do the good people go early and the stinkers stick around? I firmly believe we have to learn the big lesson before it’s our time. In other news, this was a lovely Gloria last interview that lifted me up today: https://www.glamour.com/story/gloria-steinem-lessons-on-living

Thank you so much for sharing, Celeste! Going down that rabbit hole right now. ♡

So sad to lose Dolly, she’s such a treasure. I’ll share another that I came across this week that I loved: “Happiness is your commitment to appreciating all that is good in life.” Let’s all stay committed to appreciating the good we see, especially when the world feels so dark lately. Cheers to Dolly!

I feel particularly sad for you American folks, upon losing her – she seemed like one of the ultimate ways to unite people. So glad we can can all gain from her legacy, though. What a gem, that gal.

Someone on social media called her death a ‘spiritual 9/11’ and I felt that. She was loved by everyone and was really holding this country together.
