What’s Made You Laugh Lately?

I’m reading Lindy West’s upcoming memoir Adult Braces, and her dispatches from an Eat-Pray-Love-style road trip makes me laugh out loud alone in my room. (No surprise there — remember her Beauty Uniform?). For example, when she goes to a doctor to talk about how to gently change her approach to food without participating in diet culture, the doctor suggests Wegovy. In response, Lindy writes one perfect sentence:
The emoticon is a lost art, but dare I say…linemouth???? :-|

While on a walk with his dad, Anton called to show me his newly discovered dimple. I loved it so much! At moments like this, I always think about how kids just want to be witnessed.
Marcello Hernandez talks about how much women support each other. It reminded me of this Onion headline and also the smart, funny, wonderful CoJ community. Thank you for being here. xoxo
What has made you smile or laugh lately? I’d love to hear…
P.S. Tell me three things you like, and I’ll recommend a book; and just a casual question: what do you think happens when you die?

148 commentsToday, my boyfriend was just lying on the bed, and the way his face looked was so funny—he looked just like a chubby dog! I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
My 2.5 year old just learned the word “never” and delivers it with happy conviction, constantly. As in “please finish your cucumbers”; “I will NEVER.” And “Margot, how was your day?”; “I will NEVER tell you.” It is very hard not to burst out laughing.
lol it sounds wild but as someone who has been in zepbound for over a year now I do think it perfectly gently helped me lose my weight without participating in diet culture 😂 for the very first time in my life I can simply eat a little less without worrying or thinking about it at all. I take the very smallest dose every other week.
We bought a large go cart for our grandkids. Last weekend, after getting it completely assembled, my husband wanted to test drive it. The 2 of us (60 yrs old) folded ourselves into it & I started videoing. I can only imagine what we looked like zooming top speed through our neighborhood in the cold! On the video you can hear us laughing so hard we couldn’t catch our breaths & occasional screams from me. When we made it back home I had tears streaming down my face from laughing. I sent the video on to our kids/grandkids & they loved it too. I can’t remember the last time I laughed like that! Just what my dreary February needed.
Jeanne, this is absolute fire, and when I have grandkids I am totally copying you. Thank you!!!
I’m listening to on audible “Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers” Its such a delight and Vera makes me laugh!
Vera is the best!
Was it you Joanna, that told us to watch Marcello’s new set on Netflix? If so, thank you. I have watched it twice and have laughed so hard. I’m running out of friends to recommend it to, so I’ll just start recommending it to people who look sad in the grocery store , ha.
Same! I can’t shut up about it! Now a running joke with my friends is “…follow up questions!!!”
Honestly, I haven’t had a real, from-the-gut laugh in a long time. Hi, current state of the world and life. But I walked into the kitchen to toss my empty fizzy water can in the recycling and happened to glance outside. There was a squirrel perched on our front stair railing, grooming itself like a cat — one little leg straight up in the air while it very diligently handled its business. Then it just… stopped. Sat up on its hind legs. Placed its tiny front paws on its belly and held them there for the longest time, like it was contemplating its life choices. I have no idea why it hit me so hard, but the combination of cat-style cleaning and dramatic tummy-holding absolutely sent me. I was laughing out loud.
hehehe “dramatic tummy-holding”
What a fun thing to share. Thanks!
Went on a trip with friends last weekend. We stayed in a cabin and there were lots and lots of laughs, but the best of all was playing Telestrations (“after dark” version) – like a mix of telephone + pictionary. I had literal tears in my eyes and my cheeks hurt for hours.
Lately my husband and I will lay in bed watching Gogglebox in bed and giggling. It is so entirely wholesome and laugh out loud that it immediately remedies any funk. We discovered it while traveling through Scotland and it might be my favorite souvenir from that trip.
My kids (10 and almost 14) have really grown into their sense of humour – my 10 year old has comedic timing far beyond her years. I am so grateful for the way they both make me laugh lately, and they really bring me such joy in an otherwise-dark time.
Wow- Wild that a doctor would suggest such a thing as Wegovy as a way to “gently” change her approach to food without participating in diet culture. Eesh.
The smart, funny, generous people in this community have my whole heart today. Yesterday I asked for advice about divorce, and your encouragement and advice gave me the courage to finally take the first steps (confidently informed my spouse and parents, contacted attorneys and reached out to a DV hotline). I’ve been trying to do this for over a year. This isn’t about the small comfort of eating soft scrambled eggs in peace; it’s about showing up for myself and for my kids. It’s about recognizing when something has shifted from happy to tolerable to unhealthy. Divorce isn’t what I wanted. As one commenter stated, the reality is sobering. But life is short, and with community… virtual or in real life… I believe I can get through this. If nothing else, I will show my children that we are the stewards of our own lives. Thank you!
Congrats! Sending love and courage!
Well done for being so brave. Our collective virtual arms are around you.
WOOOOHOOOO! I hope this time next year you look back on this week as the spark that ignited an awesome next adventure in your life! What a strong and self-loving example you’re setting for your children, too!! I wish you all the best, Anon ❤️
You should be so proud of putting yourself and your kids first!
I am so proud of you!
Just last night, snacking with my husband Me: can I tell you my conspiracy theory? It’s that pretzel companies make bags that rip down the sides on purpose so they spill out and get stale and we buy more Him: so you’re saying Big Pretzel is behind this? Me: OR Big Packaging… I happen to know a lot about big packages Him (seemingly unfazed by my humor and my flirting): what if maybe Big Packaging and Big Pretzel are in cahoots. … (sidles up to me) good thing i happen to know a lot about cahoots
🤣🤣
Below Deck recaps by Rafaela Bassili at Vulture/NYmag.com are so funny to me! I like to watch the show, but her reactions to it really highlight the ridiculousness of it all.
Okay this is like “break glass in case of emergency” for me—I have this blog post from Jenny Lawson bookmarked on my phone that is full of her screenshots of people sharing embarrassing stories. Lots are inappropriate! It starts with her responding “you too” when a ticket agent says “enjoy your flight!” But some people really have the most hilarious flubs… https://thebloggess.com/2015/11/17/mortification-keeps-us-human-its-like-vitamins-but-not/ My own: on a recent camping trip with students I accidentally used the men’s room after a hike and a boy came in and said “I’m confused about the bathrooms” when he saw me and that is when I realized I was in the men’s room…
I had a similar experience recently. Went into the bathroom and saw someone standing up using the urinal. It just didnt register and I went into the stall and used the toilet. I was lacking sleep and going on 3 hours of sleep the night before. While I was sitting there I remember thinking “wow how is that woman standing up and using the toilet?” I was super impressed by this like “so cool to be able to stand up and pee”. They finished and left and I went out to wash my hands and realized my mistake. Oh. And also
Thank you for this link – I haven’t stopped laughing, lol…
Currently reading Priestdaddy (2017) by Patricia Lockwood. It’s SO funny and such good writing. Highly recommend!
My 6 year old keeps adding the phrase, “I’ll tell ya that for free” after she answers a question because her Grandpa says it. She even says it in kind of an old person accent. But she’s not trying to be funny. We think she thinks it’s a common saying. Her mimicking him and earnestness makes me crack up every time.
Love these comments! I have been watching the current season of SHRINKING and laughing so hard!
Ohhhh it’s so good! One of my favorite shows ever!
me too! It makes my husband’s “real laugh” come out which I love
See? I was laughing and forgot to post the link. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCwuQkbThLB/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==
Man I have been laughing my ass off lately, but it’s like church giggles because actual life is a horrendous shit show. My bestie and I laughed so hard at lunch we couldn’t speak and were just vibrating and convulsing, so when the server came by to give us the check she just laughed too and said we were like little kids in the best way. The medicine in that kind of joyful output, I mean it must be doing something amazing to our insides. Friendship is the highest form of love. Also My teen and I always cry over this solid roast of teen boys’ hairstyles lately.
ugh, I haven’t had that kind of laugh with a friend in so long. It’s the best!
When are you dropping a post about the Epstein files? Let’s talk about it ladies. What happens next?
Omg so ready to light everything on fire because of this. I am having the hardest time focusing on the day to day.
This episode from “We Can Do Hard Things” was so insightful – but also heartbreaking and made me feel like I was going insane. Its hard for me to stay informed because everything that I read it’s incredibly painful to digest – but we need to be aware of what’s happening. I feel like we owe it to the victims. https://open.spotify.com/episode/0u0ghFiqNY4rE7uahRiTd1?si=7e785c88951143d9

My elementary school kids and I have been really loving “is it cake?” on Netflix. Everyone of any age can guess with similar skill whether something is cake or not!
Tik tok is rotting my brain sure, but in this hellscape of 2026 let me have my giggles. Recent faves include Jim Gaffigan’s take on xc skiing: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8xR8qSq/ Trying to put makeup on while listening to a 2000’s banger: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8xdvM7K/
After my second laser treatment to have my sun spots removed, which has left my skin looking very smooth and even toned, I asked my dermatologist her thoughts on tattooing freckles on my face!! Omg… what was I thinking??!! We started laughing and neither one of us could speak for a good 5 minutes!! It was one of those “i can barely breathe” laughs.
lol but also I had NO idea you could laser sun spots?!!
Wow, would you be willing to tell us what is that laser treatment?
Hi! It’s called Lumecca IPL…. Worth every dime! For about 10 days post laser your face looks like something threw mud all over it. Then the dark spots start to fall off. I had a lot of sun damage from my youth and now my skin is so clear. I would have to layer concealer on certain areas to try to cover. Now no foundation or concealer at all just lots of sunscreen. Highly recommend!! Oh and try to find a dermatologist that does it, not a med spa. The laser is stronger.
Conversation on the way to school: My Son: “I just love the design of Olive Garden. I would put an extension on it. Mom, if you were going to add to the Olive Garden, what would you do? Me: Rooftop patio, I guess Son: Honestly, Mom, I was thinking the exact same thing. Wait! I would put a glass dome on top of it! Hahahha.
So sweet!
My kid is two and a half and he makes me laugh every day. We were walking through a department store yesterday and I paused to idly browse through a rack of pretty lingerie that was on clearance. Kid, condescending: “Mummy, you’ve got bras at home.”
Hahaha!
Clips of the Graham Norton Show!
YES! I am astonished everyday of how quick-witted that man is- but also at how candid everyone on the couch can be with just a glass of wine… He is a treasure- he can just turn my day around.
Things have been so tough lately – my husband was been very depressed and yet to find a medication that helps, and we’re going through ivf (so far, very unsuccessfully) without a lot of family support nearby. But the British gameshow Taskmaster makes us relax and laugh – just started season 20 and can’t recommend it enough. Our one year old golden retriever puppy is also the goofiest, sweetest dog – she has a tendency to come find me when I’m in the middle of a yoga pose and pounce on me with kisses. It may not be zen, but makes me laugh everytime.
hi from another Caitlin (spelled the right way 😜)! my husband and I also recently started Taskmaster and it really is the perfect balm when things are tough. i also love that comedians love it! today is the gotcha day for my rescue mutt, who is primarily poodle and chihuaha (lovingly called a “poohuahua” in our house) and she is the clowniest dog I’ve ever had. just a goofball. dogs are so good at getting us out of our heads for a laugh! sending you a hug as you go through some seriously heavy stuff! may your tasks get all the points and your golden give all the laughs ❤️
Sorry for the hard time you’re going through. Taskmaster is my favorite! I found it as a recommendation in a Cup of Jo post years ago and it’s gotten me through many hard times. <3
My kid with dyslexia calls this breed of dog a “golden receiver”, and it’s so precious and perfect….
We started watching Task Masters after this comment! It’s the first show the whole family enjoys. Thanks for the reco!
Our geriatric cat died last year, and we now have two kittens for the first time in 20 years. They make me laugh out loud every single day. And, just this morning, I FINALLY got Wreck from the library. I have about twenty pages left, and I am laughing and relating so darn hard. Catherine Newman is a gift.
My 17-year-old cat died a year ago and I am hoping to get two kittens this spring as well. Since my divorce, all three of my cats have died and I am ready to welcome some new little friends!
I love the Olympics and the way I’ve been decompressing in the evenings after work has been watching YouTube clips of the games. I stumbled upon this clip last night and actually LOL’d! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQPUfKmhj-E
OMG, that is funny! Thanks for sharing, Grace.
I met up with one of my best friends in new York and we saw Oh, Mary! It was HI-larious. Highly recommend anyone who can go to see the national tour that’s starting this year. I had rewatched a few episodes of Schitt’s Creek the week before, and they were the perfect pre-game.
I laughed SO much last weekend at the new movie Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie. It’s an absolutely hilarious buddy comedy mockumentary that I highly recommend. It’s technically based on a web series from almost 20 years ago, but you don’t need to know anything about it (I didn’t) to enjoy the movie. Has anyone else seen it? Here’s the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2K9ccMREOI
IT WAS SO GOOD. I couldn’t stop laughing, the whole theatre was in tears
OMG this movie, I have not laughed so hard in a theatre maybe ever in my life. Epically funny. The whole theatre was screaming. I loved it so much.
Q: What’s E.T. short for? A: He’s only got little legs.
Gaaah! Took me a sec but got a good chuckle there Lauren O!
The Absolutely Fabulous doco and then of course the episodes. I watched avidly as a teenager and now find myself the same age as Patsy and Eddie.
My youngest recently learned to read, and lately bedtime has shifted to reading parties in the living room en famille – me, my husband, and two book loving boys (7, 10). It is the SWEETEST. They sometimes confuse words, like “thusfore” (thus and therefore) and “excitation mark” (truly more accurate than exclamation mark!). My three month old niece is really chubby and squishy and her sounds are so sweet. SUNSHINE. There have been pockets of sunshine and the sound of birds singing in the morning and this is pure joy for me. My colleagues. Work has been demoralizing to say the least, and new leadership has been rough. We’ve been quietly leaning on each other at the working level, and its the only thing keeping me going in the 9-5. And this corner of the internet, of course.

loving these links!
My 11 year old (no phone yet) is navigating a new friendship with a slightly older classmate who does have a phone. He’s used my phone to text, always starting with “Hello this is X…” They are both ND, and it has been so endearing to witness their interactions – so earnest! New stage of life where we still need to coach but not as much. My second grader got into Myles Smith and is obsessed with the new release, Drive Safe. It’s for the tune, not necessary the message, but gosh – as a parent, hearing him sing passionately about following your heart, it makes me all warm and fuzzy.
Omg I currently have adult braces and I immediately laughed out loud at that book title! Such a humbling/hilarious experience as an adult!
You are so right, Rachel, about adult braces being humbling.
My niece cracked me up last weekend. Niece: I want to be a lawyer someday. Me: I love that. What kind? Niece: The kind that goes against the bad people. Like a prostitute. Me: …A prosecutor? Niece: Yeah, that.
This pros(ecutor) just LOL’ed!
Love the call and dimple from Anton! I’m divorced and my kid is only 5, but she asks to FT the other parent from time to time and it always makes me so happy. She’s in such a cute phase and cracks me up. Savoring it, but also really looking forward to the tween/teens years. I teach middle and high school, and I just love teenagers. Especially the tweens and their earnestness. Warms my heart that you love this phase, Joanna. I feel like so many people grumble about those years.
There is so much magic and wonder and just plain rolling on the floor funny in those years. Personally I loved have tweens and teens and young adults too. And also…….. some of the hardest years of my life, because the stakes can just become unfathomably high, and the troubles can be so far beyond anything you could imagine when they are toddlers. And perimenopause for mom + girls hormonal highs and lows can be brutal all at once.
My dad has a prognosis of a couple of weeks left. On the surface, not intuitively a time to smile. But as a practicing Buddhist who believes in reincarnation, I asked what he’d like to be if he reincarnates as an animal. He gave it some thought and replied “probably a blue whale.” I did not see that coming and it definitely made me smile. I had the immediate sense that my experience of whales has been changed. It’s amazing how his being open to dying creates space for a poignant love to pervade the experience, even when physical discomfort is there too.
This is really lovely. Sending you and your dad lots of love, Annette.
Sending you so much love Annette. I hope your dad’s journey if a peaceful one. (Side note, if you might be interested- i make creatures out of felt, that can be hung or displayed whey other photos etc. I often make humpbacks. Would you like a blue whale? I would be honored to send you one if you’d like. Sasha Lindberg, on messenger, or bellabirthing@msn.com. I would just need your mailing address)
Annette: Sending you lots of love. Your father’s answer is really beautiful and gave me pause for thought. My grandmother was a devout Buddhist and was such a force of internal peace, kindness and strength. Sasha: Omg your comment touched me so deeply. How incredibly kind of you. Do you sell these little guys?
This made me tear up and smile at the same time – both Annette’s original comment and Sasha in Montana’s tender, sweet offer to make the blue whale (the community here – sob!). My beloved dad died 7.5 years ago and my wonderful MIL died 5 months ago so I know the anticipatory grief as you walk someone to the end of this life and bid them farewell as they step into the unknown. There can be so much beauty woven into the deeply painful sadness of this time. Sending you and your dad love and light.
Annette, what a wonderful experience in the face of something that is difficult in so many ways. And Sasha in Montana, your gesture has me in tears. What an incredible gift.
Sasha I sent my address and can’t tell you how your offer filled my heart today. Have really been full-on feeling the sadness of letting him go. I would be so grateful to receive that on his behalf. 🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭😭💖💖💖🙏
🐋🧡😭
Would you believe 20-year-old reruns of America’s Home Videos? All the pratfalls and mishaps were organic and just happened to be caught on video, and some of it is belly-pain funny. Things have changed since then with everybody recording everything that happens around them, so much of it is people trying too hard to be cute/funny. But that old stuff is always good for some laugh therapy.
have not thought about this show in forever and suddenly I desperately need to watch reruns!! thank you!
AFV is our go-to for “spread” dinners (aka chips, salsa, hummus, carrot, etc) with our 4 and 7 year olds. It’s PERFECT
My 13 year old son and I watch this. We clear the room we are laughing so hard.
Re dimples. My dad had one, left cheek. I have it, again left cheek. My youngest daughter does too, and now my baby grandson does as well. He will poke his fat little baby finger into mine and laugh. Family resemblances fascinate me, esp how children can morph over time from resembling one relative or parent into another, all while still looking just like themselves. Anton’s simple is adorable, and he’s becoming such a handsome young man. Had no one noticed his dimple before?? My daughter’s dimple was noticeable at birth. I remember the moment she made a face and we saw it and I was just filled with wonder at her newborn perfection.
I’ve been feeling like this Black History Month is extremely subdued (everywhere, not just COJ), and today I was relieved to see this article about how it feels radical to celebrate Black History Month in 2026 in The Atlantic: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/02/black-history-month-trump/686000/ (I’m relieved as in “it’s not just my imagination!” but deeply sad and worried about the implications) I don’t have a gift link, but it might be a good article for the Friday links? Would love to discuss this with other readers (and I’m grateful for the discussion we’ve already had in the 4 Fun Things post)
thank you!! our post is coming up today, sorry it was so late, we are super short staffed right now but excited about this post :)
Joanna, as a seasonal temp I would wear an elf outfit every day, just saying.
thanks for sharing this. I have a gift link for The Atlantic to share – hope this works! omg of course please bring in lauren o!!!!
We’ve been watching How to get to heaven from Belfast. My gosh!!! What a wild ride. About 10 minutes into the first episode I was thinking, well this is as if the Derry Girls grew up and got themselves into Something Very Dark, and Way Over Their Heads. And low and behold, it’s the same writer!!! The absolutely brilliant Lisa McGee. It’s funny. Dark. Campy and goth. And “the girls” are CRAIC!!!! I swear I’m gonna cry when it’s over. The Dolly Parton references are the funniest thing I’ve seen in ages. Anyone else watching?? I think we have 3 episodes left and I truly have no idea where it’s going to end up. I’m a little bit afraid!
As a massive Derry Girls fan, THANK YOU for this public service announcement! I can’t wait to start watching!
Agreed!! It’s kinda like Derry Girls meets bad sisters- totally up my alley. Very enjoyable
Omg I had not heard of this but Derry Girls is one of my all time favorite shows!
I just put it on my list and now I’m excited to start watching!
I’ve been on an Olympics bender but I’m so excited to watch this!
As someone who loves any British shows or movies, I just cannot get into Derry Girls! I’ve really tired, but it a no for me. I did love “ How to get to heaven from Belfast”. Completely crazy and fun! Do you think “ they” end up together?
I was telling my kids how when I was being born, my mum had to go in an ambulance, mid-labour, to a different hospital where they had forceps, but when we got there I just came out without assistance. My 10yo son replied “So you’ve always been gangster”! I found his phrasing so funny and also, it felt like a good compliment lol. Also, been loving the show Small Prophets on the BBC, its funny and really heartwarming.
For some reason I can’t stop laughing about this. You ARE gangster.
Awww Tony! That dimple is amazing. Speaking of emoticons and witnessing- my daughter just started texting and SHE IS A GREAT TEXTER!! Makes me laugh so much. Totally hadn’t realized what a joy that would be to me
texting with your kids is one of life’s greatest pleasures and the only reasons phones should exist. one from anton a while ago, sob: https://www.instagram.com/p/C7SozTcMZVD/
My three year old started saying “shall”…”shall we eat breakfast, mama?” “We shall!”
I maxed out my Spotify audiobook hours re-listening to David Sedaris on a road trip and, as always, was laughing out loud. I ran out of hours on Spotify so immediately got the book I was listening to from Libby so I could keep going!
I revisit his This American Life-Paris episode about once a year. I need to re-read his books, I love, love, love his sense of humor. https://www.thisamericanlife.org/165/americans-in-paris/act-one-25
So many questions on the dimple. Do they just appear? Is this a thing? Its funny to me how much we love a dimple. We don’t talk about other indents in other parts of our body but a dimple really helps one radiate.
I think he must have had it before, but it only comes out if he does a certain expression!
I hear you on this one, Lindsey–dimples! So weird! I have two, one in each cheek. My sister has one (left cheek). My brother has none. Genetics, man!
I recently had one just appear! No way I wouldn’t have noticed it before—always wanted one. I’m wondering if it’s because of my aging skin? (I had a friend in college who had one ADORABLE dimple, which she got by falling into a coffee table as a kid…)
I distinctly remember getting my single in high school. No photographic evidence of it existing prior and my mom often forgets I have it.
The tv show Can You Keep a Secret with the fabulous Dawn French.
“Wanting to be witnessed” – yes, exactly this! Love that Anton was so excited that he called you. I spent my childhood trying to hide mine. Marcello!! Gotta love a girl’s girl (or a girl’s man).
Good Hang podcast, specifically the ep with Jonathan Groff, had me giggle and smile the whole way through. Amy Poehler is pure sunshine in this format
also – wanted to add. your blog has totally been there for me on those validation-needing days! Love you and hope your crew has been there for you while you are tossed back into the dating pool. It is brutal out here! (I wish my brother was still single so you guys could date) At least we have 28 year old Marcello to cheer us up. xx
I love Amy Poehler’s podcast “Good Hang” but her episode last week with Jonathan Groff was particularly hilarious and endearing. I was smiling and giggling aloud the whole time!
😂 nail on the head.
Oh my heart, Marcello is adorable. And Anton’s dimple reminds me of Miguel from Coco’s “dimple, no dimple!” I look forward to reading Lindy’s book. The thing is, Zepbound really did change my relationship with food without me needing to participate in diet culture. I have autoimmune diagnoses, and my metabolism just doesn’t work the way it did when I was a young, energetic athlete. I’m in my 40’s and grew up when thin was in. I had an insidious eating disorder that really only resolved once I had kids and realized I wanted to model what I needed to see as a kid. The disordered thinking was still there, and I gained a lot of weight over a few years after having my thyroid removed. My doctor recommended Zepbound about 2 years before I agreed to try it on a very conservative dosing schedule, and I’m eternally grateful to have this support. My inflammation is down and my joints don’t hurt as much. I don’t obsess about my next meal while I’m eating. I have the mental energy to consider what will best fuel my body versus what I’m craving. And yes, my body is smaller and closer to how I feel most comfortable existing in the world, but that is surprisingly low on my list of benefits of this medicine. (I’m uncomfortable when people comment on my weight loss; it makes me feel sad and defensive for my bigger self.) Just putting this out there for others who may have only heard negative feedback about GLP-1s. It’s SO expensive, but it’s worth it for me. I hope Lindy finds what she’s looking for, too.
Diana – this resonates with me a lot. I’ve been on it for a few months and the lack of food noise is so healing for me. the body positivity movement shouldn’t be about looks but how you feel in your body and for me I’m loving how i feel in my body these days because of that quiet.
thank you for sharing your experiences! big fan of any path that women choose to feel good in their bodies xoxoxo
Thank you, Diana, for sharing your experience. I appreciate the nuance and perspective.
Diana – same, same! Zepbound and an incredible intuitive eating dietician for the past year have changed my life by enabling me to have a positive, curious, low-stress relationship to food. I’ve found the subreddit antidietglp1 (reddit.com/r/antidietglp1) has been really helpful in the earlier phases of my process. There are lots of people like us out there, we just aren’t the focus of a lot of discourse and media around these meds. <3
Thank you all for the kind feedback. Lindsey and Elizabeth, good luck on your journeys, too! Elizabeth! Wow, I found my people!! Thank you for this recommendation 😊
My friend is doing Zepbound and loving it. It’s really helping her and no sides effects. Unfortunately Kaiser does not offer it and I can’t afford the $500 “ out of pocket”. Boo
When I was 14- and just starting to become keenly aware of the details of my body- I noticed that I had a dimple in my chin. I casually mentioned in passing to my dad, “Isn’t it funny that I have this chin dimple, and you and mom don’t?” His, which I’ll never forget, was, “Maybe it’s from all the weight you’ve gained.” I share this only to note that the CoJ community has provided so much healing and validation to so many women. Thank you for being a profound part of my own healing. I love Anton’s dimples and my own babies’ dimples, and may we all rejoice in their unique dimples together.
yes to all the dimples, anywhere and everywhere!!! on a similar note, I’ve always loved this comment from a reader named Jenny back in 2019: “Being intimate with women has changed the way I think about myself and my performance of womanhood. Feeling electrified by a butt with cellulite, really wanting the jiggle of a thigh, experiencing little back rolls as soft and devastatingly cute… it’s opened a door to how much male gaze has taught me to hate myself and now I’m learning to love those parts of myself.”
ugh, just… why. I know your dimple is (and was) so cute.
My five year old used the word “alas” in a sentence which about sums up his personality entirely… “We could have some yogurt and granola! *swings open the fridge* Alas, we don’t have any yogurt.” So earnest! So precious!
omg LOVE.
Oh my heart! That’s the cutest thing!
That’s awesome that Anton’s dad lives locally! Laughing or smiling lately…looking forward to the comments.
oh yes, Alex lives just down the street — about a 7 minute walk, which is so great :)
Dying over Anton’s newly-found dimple!! Also, with that line, I bet the Lindy West book is amazing on audio!
oh my GOSH, I’m going to find on libby when it comes out on 3/10!!
Don’t wait until the book comes out to look for it on Libby! Many libraries pre-load forthcoming titles & you can place a hold for it before it comes out!
thank you for the tip!!
Immediately adding to my TBR!!
Free Bert on Netflix. Six episode comedy about a family not fitting in with their ritzy neighbors. It’s a bit raunchy but I truly laughed!!
ooh going to look up. also, there’s a new series by the creator of Derry Girls — https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/how-to-get-to-heaven-from-belfast-date-cast-photos
I need to give this another try! People keep recommending it and I couldn’t get through the first episode but maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for comedy that night :)
OMG Anton, my heart!!!!!
12 is the most delicious age!!!
My 10 year old daughter includes me in her ritual to name the new freckles. I am glad that she is paying attention to her body and also that she is still willing to include me in her world. Currently laughing at said 10 year old. She just decided that she is brave enough for Stranger Things and is “fan girling”. I have to smile and nod, lest I accidentally provide a spoiler. She gets very animated telling her favorite parts.
oh my gosh, that is so, so sweet.
