Our first weekend-long date, we were both trying to play it cool during the planning, so I had said something about how he should come stay at my apartment bc the building has a pool, and he was like, oh yeah great idea. We were I think already making out in my bed when he looked panicked and told me he had to tell me something. I’m bracing myself for who knows what terrible news and he goes, “I forgot my sandals!” It took me a second to even compute. He was like, “I did bring a bathing suit, but I forgot sandals!” I had to make intense eye contact and put a hand on his thigh and be like, “This weekend is not actually about your pool sandals.”
