Have a Loving Weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? We’re hosting a Halloween gathering tonight — the boys stuck bats all around our house! — and on Sunday, we’ll be cheering on the New York marathon. (Are any CoJ readers running?) Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…
Catbird, our long-time favorite jewelry brand, is having their annual sale before the holidays. The #1 item on my wishlist is this gorgeous ring. This necklace would also make a lovely gift.
My friend Erika just had her baby — how gorgeous is this photo??
How I APPLAUDED Phoebe Robinson’s reel on guys complaining about their wives.
The “whimsy” pieces in these Maine-made puzzles are delightful. “Whimsy pieces are pieces that resemble objects or animals…If you’re doing a puzzle of a beautiful Italian landscape, you might as well have a piece in the shape of a wine glass or a sailboat… One of my favorites is a woman who commissioned a giant puzzle to commemorate her debut novel. So, we did a puzzle of the book’s cover but incorporated all these whimsy pieces that spoke to the characters and the plot.”
Have you listened to Lily Allen’s new album, a play-by-play of her pried-open marriage and divorce from actor David Harbour? I felt like I was catching up with an old friend, jaw on the ground! Said my friend Alison: “The best gossip session of my life.”
Into this stick-of-butter outfit.
Oooh, such a cozy rental apartment in London.
My beloved friend Adam’s story of being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. “For the past year, I’ve had a tremor that Craig would notice whenever I held up my fork or the remote control or my phone to play Connections. We chalked it up to twitchiness or nerves but the tremor persisted.”
The new HBO series I Love LA is being described as a west-coast Girls.
New York City loves a little treat. Here are 46 favorites. Which would you go for? (NYTimes gift link)
I don’t usually pay much attention to runway shows, but Celine knocked it out of the park. This color combo! This belt placement! This 1910s equestrian!
Lastly, nine ways Kate Baer is making her 40s her best decade, including a sex playlist (“I don’t want to hear mouth sounds” lol) and how to deepen female friendships.
Plus, three reader comments:
Says S.Lee on teaching kids emotional regulation: “As an eighth-grader growing up in Korea, I went through a period of extreme isolation. A complete loner, no friends, a very difficult time in my young life. One day during lunch, I went to a payphone (it was the late ’90s) and called my mom. I didn’t say much, just that it was an especially hard day. An hour later, my homeroom teacher came to tell me to pack up my backpack. My mom picked me up from school, and we went straight to the train station. We boarded the next train out of Seoul and got off as soon as we’d left the city. There was a small river, and we went hiking in the mountains and ate dinner at a local restaurant. She didn’t ask me what was wrong; we just spent the day together, walking and talking. That day gave me the strength to live through the whole year. Sometimes you just need time with someone who loves you, and that is enough.”
Says Olivia Jane on Catherine Newman’s health essay: “Catherine, it’s a good thing we don’t have your number, because the number of heart-based emojis and texts of caring we would stream your way would be just too much. Instead know the whole CoJ community is carrying you along in our own way. Big hugs, Catherine. Big hugs.”
Says Jo on a sweet gift: “I’ve never related to a creature so much as I relate to Freddie’s dog being casual.”

101 commentsWow, S. Lee’s comment about her day with her mom brought tears to MY eyes! May we all be blessed with at least one person who knows just what we need, right when we need it.
My heart goes out to Adam, his family and friends, and anyone else dealing with this disease. If he doesn’t already know about it, look into Deep Brain Stimulation. It requires brain surgeries but has been shown to be effective if you are able to get it early on . . . They offer it at the university research hospital in my state.
Are we going to get the Kate Baer house tour teased during your Substack live this summer? Asking for a friend ;)
yes!!!! we did the photo shoot two weeks ago (the photos are SO GOOD) and are doing the interview now; it’s almost ready to publish :)
Re. the Roz try before you buy situation: Does anyone know the answer to this? Will they send me a notification when my 2 weeks are almost up or do I need to keep an eye out? Thanks for any intel from the COJ community.
For your friend recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, my husband’s business partner received a diagnosis at the age of 50 a few years ago. He recently started using BEECHBAND, (a device made by a Parkinson’s sufferer) that has changed his life. It’s not available in the United States but he’s from the UK so was able to get a family member to buy it for him. We’ve seen it in action with our own eyes, it’s incredible.
Thank you so much for this info Jen. It’s sold out for the moment but I’m going to try to have my sister in law bring one back when she visits Scotland. Fingers crossed it’s back in stock soon.
On the Beechband website (under frequently asked questions) they wrote that starting Nov 17th it will be available in more countries, including the US !
Jeanne, I’m here in England, always happy to facilitate and ship if it’s any easier (rachelfdouglas @ gmail. com).
Anni: Great news!! Thank you for doing the research! Rachel: Omg that is so incredibly kind of you. My heart did a little sqeeze, I was so touched. If they start shipping to the US, I’ll give that a shot. If not, I’ll email you. <3
The emetic irony of seeing Obama’s picture after the loss of SNAP post. His administration provided $3 billion in Foreign Military Financing (FMF), the largest commitment of its kind in history- TO ISRAEL. The total funding was $38 billion and his best gift was the IRON DOME. I hope he shared this anecdote with the little boy in the picture.
Agree Farhana ! I differ in opinion from the people who think he is so great.
Also, If Obama would have allowed the 2020 primary to play out naturally, we may have had 8 years of Bernie and may have never been in this Trump disaster.
The Iron Dome keeps millions of people safe from rockets and missiles. I don’t understand your issue with this.
Two things can be true: the United States has far too often blindly supported Israel and not held them to the same standard as other countries who we support financially AND Obama was a great president who was imperfect. He deeply believed in our democracy, and worked hard to make our country better (he accomplished this imperfectly, but he did pass historic healthcare legislation). Don’t tell me you were a voter who refused to vote for Kamala because she didn’t do enough to end the war in Gaza??? Because look where we are now. We’re losing our democracy, for what? How is it helping Palestinians to have an aspiring dictator and corrupt, autocrat who is purposefully starving 40 million American children?
Thank you Farhana for writing here again and again about the oppressions that Palestinian people endure. And also about how much it is important to face how USA politics, Democrats included, has contributed to it.
weird comment
Bernie would not have won the 2029 election. He might have won by big margins in already Blue states but he absolutely wouldn’t have won over swing states. A woman didn’t have a chance either, not matter who it was. The only type of person who could have beat Trump was a slightly left middle aged white man. Kamala came close. She lost because Latino men voted against their interest. She also lost because of those who wanted to take a stand against Israel so they voted third party or not at all. How’s that working out for both groups? I live in middle America. I was raised in a Republican household. While I changed my views and affiliations, I understand how a lot of people outside of liberal bubbles think. In 2020, I wasn’t ready for Bernie despite voting Democrat and I can tell you there were a lot of Democrats like me. I will say Trump and his family ilk have pushed me further and further Left.
Jane, well we will never know, will we ? Bernie was winning going into Super Tuesday when Obama and Clyburn put their hands on the scale and manipulated the primary to favor Biden. We will never know because the primary was not allowed to play out. We will never know. I think of all the lives lost since Trump unleashed hate and people acted out his hateful rhetoric. People killed in the church shootings, grocery stores, etc. When Trump made it ” ok ” to be a white supremacist, lives were lost. In 2016 even Trump said the only person who could beat him was Bernie. But Bernie was dissed by politicians and main stream corporate media. Who knows what might be different today if he had not been so dismissed in 2016. And 2020.
Yeah I agree, it feels pretty disorienting to see a picture of Obama when his failure to respond adequately to the financial crisis absoutely paved the way for the disgust with elites that Donald Trump capitalized on. And as other commenters have mentioned, he worked against Bernie who had massive grassroots support and a vision to change the Democratic party. I really don’t think any of us should be looking to Obama as a political role model these days.
Right on, Kate, and so well said. I’m crying a little reading the truth in your words. Great comment.
re: phoebe robinson — YAS. eNOUGH. this week i told my husband and teenage son that it was time for them to become better housemates, do more without my help or guidance, and just figure stuff out on their own. and yes, i’m lumping 50+-year-old husband with teenage son in this equation. some weeks a woman/partner/mother is just done with all the unseen, disrespected, belittled labor that makes men’s lives better…especially once she’s turned a certain age. as ali wong said, do you know how much more successful i would be if i had a wife? someone to put the duvet cover on the duvet?!
The news of your friend’s Parkinsons diagnosis felt like a punch in the stomach. My mom has had PD for 12+ years now and it is not easy. Sending so much love to Adam and his family and friends.
Went to Adam’s blog and just as moving as his words – seeing lovely CoJ comments migrate over there. Love this community!
The last Christmas present from my Dad was a custom wooden puzzle with whimsy pieces. It had a photo of my dog that died a couple months before, and the whimsy pieces were all dogs. I’ve pulled it out every Christmas since.
The little treat link should be endorsed by the NYC board of tourism. I have never seen a greater list of reasons to visit anywhere!! See y’all in a month!!
S. Lee!!! One day, I will do the same for my daughter (at one point we have all needed that!), and I will think of your mom and thank her (and you!) I love how she didnt ask you a billion questions or tried to “fix” the situation. All you needed was that connection, a reminder of being loved and seen and treasured, and … nature. AND the surprise of it all. I can imagine her at work or home, just thinking: EFF IT!! I am getting my girl!! LOVED THIS. Thanks for sharing. It stirred something in me, I will remember this always <3
Thank you and everyone! xoxo I have a five year old daughter and I will remember to do the same for her when/if she needs it in the future.
Things feel really really heavy right now. That photo of Obama actually made me tear up. We’re living in such a dark time and I don’t know if we will ever go back to what was.
May we all carry S Lee’s mother’s energy with us. What a power move. In complete opposite vibes, I couldn’t handle Lily Allen’s album. Some things don’t need to be shared with the whole world.
You mean OUR friend, Erika. ;) Congrats, Erika!! So happy for you!
Am I misremembering or was David H a part of Jo’s broader friend circuit many moons ago? Goodness, that album 👀
Thanks for the Lily Allen tip! She was the soundtrack to my rebellious youth. So seeing her take back her power with this album is just so good. But uffdah. The way my eyes popped out of head while listening!
Am I misremembering that David Harbour is a friend of yours? I feel like you featured him in some party images back in the day?
He was a friend of a friend and came to a few parties. He was always friendly and gracious. Loving the Lily Allen album, she’s a force.
WOWOWOWOOW. I know you can’t share more, Joanna, but darn it. You have some hot goss over there. Did Lily Allen ever come with him to one of your parties?
I’d love a print out of the lyrics to Lilly Allen’s album. I’m not much for listening to new music but I’m here for the hot goss.
Standing ovation for Phoebe Robinson screaming about bad husbands stressing her bangs. Those are good bangs and must be protected!
I clicked on the stick-of-butter outfit thinking, oh that sounds like a great last minute halloween costume idea! Total 180, but I’m into it.
I was actually a stick of butter for Halloween and can confirm, it is a GREAT idea
I listened to Lilly’s album on a recent 2 hour drive in the car – alone, no kids. I have never listened so closely to an album and said “oh my god!” so many times. She has us all riding at dawn for her!
I am running!!!!! What mile in Bk, Jo?
Long time listener, first time caller, but I’m running on Sunday! It’s my first New York City marathon, and I can’t wait to soak up the energy. Everyone says Brooklyn is a party! Thanks for coming out to support; it really does make a difference!
Such a lovely, thoughtful roundup, and the comments too. Bringing me joy is watching Canadians go mad about the Blue Jays on Instagram (I don’t care about/ understand baseball but I have a weakness for Canadians being passionate). Speaking of Canadians, this wholesomeness: https://www.instagram.com/meet_thewalkers?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ODdmZWVhMTFiMw== and finally, you know the joy that comes from reading a book, loving it and then finding that the author has been writing for years and has written loads of books for you to savour? Well, 1) there should be a word for that and 2) Clare Chambers! I ‘discovered’ her because I kept seeing her book Small Pleasures around in book shops. Here in the UK it has a very pretty cover so I noticed, but the blurb didn’t really appeal to me so I kept passing on it. Fate had me pick up a library copy of another of hers, Back Trouble, really love it and then spend the summer tearing through her whole back catalogue all while laughing, crying and thanking the universe for word artists like her. Big hugs to everyone xx
I’ve been thinking about Adam and Catherine Newman non-stop. Thinking of you both and your loved ones. Life can be so beautiful and so rubbish. It’s hard to find the right words (or even non-completely-stupid ones), but sending you both love and courage as you navigate these uncertain seasons.
I am a passionate cup of Jo reader from Germany. My friend Kiki and her identical twin sister Nati will participate in the NY marathon. If by chance you could hiss a banner with the following message: “Kiki go, Nati go”, that would make us happy and forever grateful. Thank you so much!!!
The new Lily Allen album is so good! I can’t stop listening to it.
OMG I MISS OBAMA
“Y’all got me and my bangs fucked up,” is officially my new email signature. God bless Phoebe — out here saying what we’re all thinking and looking adorable while doing it.
Adding S. Lee’s mom to the mental gallery of women I aspire to be like as a mother (Catherine Newman was already included).
I have given Lily’s new album a good listen. If I hadn’t read about her well publicized divorce, most of the album would stand up well enough without the celeb breakup buzz. She sure can write! But, it’s Brandi Carlile’s latest album that floored me. It’s dynamite. Also checked out Madison Cunningham’s new recording.
That picture of Obama is a gut punch. Damn we just had no idea. I hold onto hope that it’s not lost for good. And yes. Wow to Lily Allen’s album. Have been listening to it on repeat. I am hooked but have no one to recommend it to! :-o
Oh nope I’m a no on Phoebe who I never heard of so maybe she’s different in other videos but to bring such anger just piles on to an already exceedingly angry world. Maybe someone just needed to video the wives with how much do you want to be here 1-10… I guess I’ll just leave this and have it be good for her… I’m sure I’m in the minority. I just cannot deal with more yelling most days. I need peace.
Yeah, I found this so strange and abrasive. We have no idea who these men’s wives are and there are just so many assumptions flying around here. I don’t love lumping all husbands and all wives into monolithic groups. I’m sure there are lots of shitty, unhelpful husbands out there, but there are just as many, if not more, amazing husbands (and probably lots of just okay ones). In my own progressive, middle class circle, most marriages are wonderfully egalitarian. I’m truly sorry that some people are stuck in marriages to awful people, but I don’t see how videos like this do anything but make people defensive.
OMG y’all she’s joking. She’s hilarious. You need to watch more of her work. She’s a comedian and the BEST.
If I were asked how I feel about being at any store with my husband my answer would be zero. Not because I don’t adore my husband but because I don’t enjoy doing chores – with or without him (my rating would probably be higher for “with” if the question was running errands with or without him). I agree these days I need to skip the yelling and go for the uniting whenever possible!
Oh, Obama. It’s just…. Obama had eight years. Eight! Years! And we still don’t have universal Healthcare. And we still have 1 in 8 people needing food aid in the wealthiest nation… I had so much hope. But I feel so angry now. And one can’t blame it all on the president who followed him… we’ve been a mess for a really, really long time. And where is Obama, anyway? NOW. Where is he while this is all happening? One person who knows, who despite anger and disappointment, maybe could energize people… could give us some hope, some guidance, some ways to stop this craziness but he is SILENT.
I couldn’t disagree with you more. Why is it all on Obama to fix this nation? That is not his responsibility. He served us for eight years. If you’re going to bring past presidents into this, where is Bush? And Clinton? Who both also had 8 years in office BTW. We are not here because of Obama. We are here because of a broken nation. I just can’t with this.
Hardly. Obama is endorsing Dem candidates running and encouraging, imploring voters to vote! 2 million registered voters stayed home last election. . I recall the fight against the healthcare he initiated and now we fight to keep it. Who else had a healthcare plan? The damage this shutdown has created is numbing. Misinformation is ruining public engagement.
Yes we should have had universal healthcare long ago. And I’ll never forget how he manipulated the 2020 primary when Bernie was winning. Exit polls showed people were in favor of Bernie’s policies. The nerve. I was an Obama fan early on, voted for him twice. But the more I learned about him, no. Medicare for All NOW. The ACA was better than nothing in the beginning, but it’s a billion dollar for profit industry. And it’s waaay too expensive. We need Medicare for All.
To Hillary’s question , “Who else had a healthcare plan ??”. Bernie did for ages and still does. Sorry it won’t make money for the politicians who are beholden to the for- profit insurance companies. . It will just help people.
Jane and Hillary- I agree with you both on several points. Our mess isn’t Obama’s for blame, or for credit; it is so, so much bigger than that. I wonder if perhaps you read my comment in a way that supports the current administration rather than how I meant it– as a wildly disheartened voter who believes the purpose of a government is to support the lives of its most vulnerable citizens, and that it is failing miserably in that duty, under every president in my memory. Indeed, my comment was not intended as a criticism… it was a plea.
He served his time and did his best. Is it enough to save y’all? You have to save yourselves. No one is gonna do it for you
Let’s not blame the smartest, kindest guy in any room. Blame the one building a $200 million ballroom with your hard earned money while millions of Americans are kicked off SNAP and kicked out of their govt jobs. While Trump builds an opulent place for parties, America sinks deeper into despair.
If you think Obama has been silent then you are not paying attention. Or, since this comment is all pretty much incorrect information and disconnected from reality, maybe your intent is to create discord and fuel the flames of division. Bots and disinformation campaigns are everywhere.
Wow. I am flabbergasted that you could write this about Obama while ignoring the devastation brought upon our country and the world by the person in office now. He is the one responsible, not the man who hasn’t been in power since 2017! The only thing Obama can do is speak up…and he is doing exactly that.
He had republicans blocking so many things throughout his tenure. He’s not silent, he’s campaigning for dems all over. It’s amazing to me that you’re mad at him. He hasn’t been President for a long time. How mad at trump are you? You okay?
Gay marriage, check. Obamacare, check. Osama bin Laden, check. Tell me what trump has done that has helped anyone other than billionaires. I’ll wait.
Oh my God, get a grip. You’re blaming the creator of the affordable care act for our current health care crisis? And yes, one really, really, really, INDEED, can blame it on the president who followed him and who has unceremoniously done each and everything he can to destroy the ACA. And Obama is far from silent, he is incredibly active getting people to register to vote, speaking out against Trump, etc. Which, for the record, HE ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT HAVE TO DO. He gave us his best and was treated like dog poop by over half this country. I wouldn’t blame him one bit for getting on a plane to some tropical island and getting away from this trash, but instead he still believes in America, in spite of nonsense exactly like this.
I can tell you exactly where he is today (Saturday)— in my beautiful state of Virginia, campaigning for Abigail Spanberger to be our next governor! If anyone has earned a rest it’s Obama, yet he keeps speaking up and helping bend the arc of justice.
Silent? Really? Not sure you’re up to date with this as Obama has just given a speech today in support of a Democratic candidate in Virginia.
Obama also had a congress who blocked just about every single thing he tried to do. This is such a poorly informed take on our situation. I would urge you to read more (actual information) about what you’re claiming.
Obama was in my city yesterday to campaign for the democratic candidate for governor of VA. Unfortunately I was out of town. But he’s out there. I don’t think we can blame one single person for the mess our country is in… unless anyone wants to blame Trump, I’m 100% down for that kind of blaming 🙃 kidding but not really
WHAT are you talking about? Obama is fighting hard. Where are you looking?? You must have an insane reserve of outrage if you have this much to give to OBAMA?? Good grief. There is a monster in the White House right now.
Well, this is just false. A quick Google search by you would reveal Obama is up to plenty, despite no obligation to do so.
I think Obama had Mitch McConnell to deal with. To be completely transparent, I am not the biggest fan of Obama and I’m not even in the US, but I remember how Mitch McConnell did not let anything pass – in hindsight, it seems obvious that he was personally offended that US could be led by anyone other than a straight white man.. after all, the rest of the country only took a minute to catch up! And yes, I think it is alright to be angry with the good capable people, after all, they are the ones we pin our hopes on, not the ones that have Great Gatsby parties while they cause the children to go hungry.. I mean what’s the point getting angry with them? Oh, and just before I go, look up Stacey Abram’s 10stepscampaign.org – this is not the time to give up..
PNW, Bernie deserves a lot of credit. If he was President, I’d be watching more closely. His work is important. Is energy for America everlasting. To say he hasn’t taken big bucks is another matter. They all do. But again, unelected as Pres. his influence and power is ltd. Go Bernie!
ABESHA1, appreciate your clarification. Tomorrow, I VOTE!
1. It’s ironic that Hillary R. asked who else had a healthcare plan. HILLARY had a healthcare plan, but no one wanted to hear a First Lady present such a thing, despite the fact that she’s one of the smartest people on the planet. Maybe you are too young to remember, but she and Bill were highly criticized for her plan. Socialized medicine is seen as too.. socialist for most Americans. 2. OBAMA 2028! If Trump can threaten tor run for a third term, why can’t Barack? I’m getting a bumper sticker. He and Michelle genuinely care.
Oh Julia. The irony is off the hook! Hillary Clinton was unsuccessful in getting her plan implemented. I remember her efforts well and her successful policies. But unless you have comprehensive support and the authority it lags. I also recall her efforts to create a public service university. What she absolutely nailed is VILLAGE thinking. We still need more of that! At 67, I’m a proud voter since registering many yrs ago. Thxs for the reminders.
I’m not a fan of his, but expecting Obama to provide health care for all is just as misguided as Trump trying to be King. The President doesn’t have all the power- if you want to blame someone for the ACA, blame Congress.
Julia ” socialized medicine is seen as too socialist for most Americans ” I’m not sure if you’re referring to Medicare for All or not but it is extremely popular, as evidenced by exit polls in 2020. We already have Medicare. This would just be “for all ” Unless we want to remain behind every other major country and continue to deny healthcare for all.
Hi, PNW Grateful & Hillary R especially – I’m not knocking Medicare for all. However, like Hillary R., I am 67. I am on Medicare and it could use some tweaks. My options for medical coverage under Medicare have been reduced this renewal period. I’ll need to change my primary provider or pay a lot more. My mother was Canadian. I went to high school in Canada and, as an American with dual citizenship, I am seriously weighing relocating. It’s a tough decision with adult children here in the PNW. I am not knocking socialized medicine. I’m just saying that many Americans have historically found socialism uncomfortably associated with communism. Until now, perhaps. I support Bernie and AOC, but unfortunately if not for Bernie’s presidential campaign, Hillary C. might’ve taken us in a different trajectory back in 2016. What can we do now?
Really, wasting your breath complaining about Obama right now??? Huh??
Hi Julia. I hear you. I’m 66 and yes, man oh day, my insurance situation is challenging also. I have Medicare Advantage which I don’t like ( another for profit ) and like you, the availability in my county varies year to year. And necessitates change of provider etc. For 2026 I think we only have one choice of PPO plan. Neighboring county had 5 choices. It’s all so inequitable. I’ve also had the ACA and had to pay back all my subsidies in 2021 because I had the nerve to make 20,000 in per diem nursing helping during Covid. I had already been paying 600 monthly. So I basically worked for no wage in 2021. But that’s water over the incredibly damaged bridge, haha. Anyway,I wish you all the best ! Neat you have dual citizenship ! Oh and think where we might be if Hillary had not run in 2016. Bernie ! :) Sorry, couldn’t help that one ! :) ( said in the most jovial congenial manner. Texts convey no inflection ) Enjoy your day !
Anyone else following the incredible donations flooring a Portland, Ore. non profit coffee shop (Heretic Coffee) after it announced on their IG that they’d provide free breakfasts to anyone who is without their SNAP benefits? They’re now up to over $300k! And now they’re partnering with a Portland mutual aid that was founded by Black women and femmes. It’s just so incredible and fills one with hope. I love Portland, and so does the world! https://www.equitablegivingcircle.org/
I love the stick of butter outfit— my version is that I’m going as an actual stick of butter for my Halloween costume tonight! I sewed and painted a stick of butter dress and bought butter socks :-))
That sounds so fun! Go you maddie!
Phoebe! Phoebe! Phoebe!
Oh man, any picture of Obama makes me want to sob. Love/hate his respect for term limits. No kings! Except maybe Barak.
God, I miss seeing Obama. Just seeing a “voice of reason” such as him make me feel like I haven’t taken a deep breath in longer than I remember ….
Crying, S. Lee. How simply beautiful. Bless your mother and bless you.
Came here to say the same. What a beautiful moment with your mum, S.Lee. Thanks for sharing.
Oh Adam, wasn’t expecting that. I was diagnosed with essential tremor 30 years ago. The tremors intensified over time. I have had every test known to man to rule out other possibilities but often wonder when or if I’ll be re diagnosed in the future. I will share that much more is known about Parkinson’s than ET resulting in far better medical care. My ET is treated with OT primarily. After reading your recent novel, I have no doubt your sensibility and good, fun nature means you’re surrounded by loving support and countless smiles. 🙏. A fellow tremor traveler.
There is a neurologist at Duke getting incredible results with a new technique–maybe you can find a way to get a consultation? I can send you more info if useful. My aunt has advanced essential tremor and I’ve been researching it.
I have attended several ET consults, joined the ET Foundation, even did a radio interview on the subject under a movement disorder campaign. But,any add’l info is very welcomed, tyou.
S. Lee, thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of your life. I’m going to try to do this for someone if the opportunity presents itself and the next time I am feeling down, I will try to imagine your voyage and feel uplifted by the beauty of your story.
I think I have never needed this Friday’s weekend message from COJ as badly as I do right now. Breathing, while strategizing, while trying to be calm and strong (and fun, and cheerful for my kid and her friends big night of mayhem). I would say, “you have no idea”…but I bet you surely do. I’ll take a dozen of those cinnamon rolls, please and thanks!
Brought to tears S.Lee. Thank you for sharing.
I know, that was so moving!
Same! Bookmarking for my preteen.
