Etsy Finds

When I was in my twenties, if my brain was spinning, I would go down Etsy rabbit holes. I usually wouldn’t buy anything, but discovering handmade designs and beautiful artwork — and thinking of the talented people behind them — would calm me. Some of my favorite finds have been from Etsy, too, like my bedroom bookcase, a Mary Oliver bumper sticker, and Toby’s first toy. So, just for fun, here are some recent favorites, and I’d LOVE to hear about yours in the comments — also, please leave a link if you have an Etsy store yourself! xoxo
What would you add? This starry cushion lives on our sofa, and my friend Abbey says these have brought her “years of pleasure.”
P.S. Our Brooklyn house tour, and the dinner-changing magic of candlesticks.

Note: If you buy something through our links, we may earn an affiliate commission or have a sponsored relationship with the brand, at no cost to you. We recommend only products we genuinely like. Thank you so much.

111 commentsI was reluctant to open the comments on this post as I figured it would just be a bunch of self promotion… which it is in the best way! We should be able to self-promote and highlight our talents; why didn’t I want that? And it is so much more – people highlighting the talents of their friends and family and strangers from whom they find joy. So much talent AND LOVE. Made my day.
Lauren O. has a golden dachshund like this on top of one of her stacks of books. :-)
I spotted that too!
Etsy is the best! My little shop took off during the pandemic and I’ve never looked back. I sell beginner Natural Dye and Indigo Dye Kits, so you can try these fun techniques for the first time! https://theloveofcolours.etsy.com
I’m late to this post, but thanks for sharing the Etsy love. I’ve been a full-time jewelry seller on Etsy since I quit my last (horrible) job in 2011. It’s getting harder to find handmade stuff on Etsy, but I appreciate the customers who still find me. https://www.etsy.com/shop/sweetolivejewelry
I love discovering new gems (and passions!) on Etsy all the time. A wonderful friend of mine sells Reflect Cards, a set of cards she first created to support journaling habits. I personally use them to play as a group game when I’m hosting friends over for low-key dinner parties. It’s amazing how quickly her warm and thoughtful prompts open up everyone up with smiles and laughter :) For those who like to support local businesses, she also hosts fun Reflect Cards events in Brooklyn stores occasionally! https://thefriyaycompany.etsy.com/listing/1600512604
Aw my kids and I play Talking Point family edition every night at dinner (they’re 8 & 10 and it’s such a good way to get kids those ages to open up), but at this point we’ve done them all so I’m going to try these!
Love all these suggestions — so many lovely things to add to my list!!! This isn’t on Etsy, but a really good friend of mine launched a small stationery business here in New York: https://ys-notes.com. She’s a very craftsy person and a die-hard stationery lover, and she quit her big job on Wall Street during the pandemic to pursue her creative passions. I like how some of the cards have multiple pages, so you can use them kind of like a letter (vs. just a greeting card). I especially love the Kindred Spirits and the Light Seasons cards, but all of them are really beautiful!
Love the opportunity that Etsy provides for dipping your toes in a small business. I am taking a break from my “good girl” corporate worker grind and re-opened my Etsy shop to build it in earnest almost a year ago. It has been fulfilling in so many ways, including realizing that all those skills I offered to the organizations who barely appreciated them, I can and should offer to my own business. My shop is built around living a contemplative life in strategic thinking, gaming, and planning. Overthinkers are welcome! https://hambymiscellany.etsy.com
Holy moly! I forgot to mention I actually made a Soup Group printable, inspired by your friend Liz and your soup group post! The printable is a bit organizer, keepsake, and meeting minutes. I had a ton of fun creating it! Printable: https://hambymiscellany.etsy.com/listing/1788586446 Post: https://cupofjo.com/2019/01/09/host-to-host-soup-group/
I too, go down Etsy rabbit holes to calm myself! I am a long time buyer and seller and love to see the support for small businesses. Here’s my shop: https://visionstomyself.etsy.com/
I love etsy! I love it so much I recently opened my own little shop selling vintage items while I stay at home with my daughter. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share! https://matchbookvintageco.etsy.com
Original handmade watercolor paintings https://colormewatershop.etsy.com/
I just started my own Etsy venture this January. My boyfriend called me over one night and told me “I am setting up your Etsy store. What do you want to call it?”. It has been the best push I ever could have gotten. I never felt like my creativity was worthy of anything and my partner pushing me to put myself out there has been so liberating! In one month I have made 9 sales (from people I! Don’t! Know! *Squeel!) and it is mindblowing every time I get the cha-ching notification. It’s not for the money, it is truly for the joy of putting my creativity out into the world. So just know that any sale can bring that same crazy happy smile that I get when someone out there is saying – I see you and love your creativity. Worth every b Here is my little venture of eyeglass chains https://cyanfoxden.etsy.com

Two artists immediately came to mind, and very unsurprisingly, they both have cats as a frequent subject: 1) Sara from FlowerCatGarden – she paints cats sleeping in flowers, I love her art: https://www.etsy.com/shop/FlowerCatGarden 2) Kelly from KalleidoscapeDesign – her big-eyed watercolor kitties are my favorite, I have a galaxy one in bi pride colors ;) : https://www.etsy.com/shop/KalleidoscapeDesign?
Maybe Christmas time 2023 there was a CoJ post where she invited people to share their businesses/Etsy shops. Would be great to have a ready link to that post too to support all of you talented people!
Joanna, I’ve used Etsy since I was a teen! I have 41THOUSAND favorites. Obviously that makes me a bit of an edge case but for about six months it was impossible to search my favorites and I have to have a chat with their support team. In the last year I have bought custom crib sheets (William morris honeysuckle and pink faux fur), a wall shelf that needed to be an exact size to cover a tear in the wallpaper, foam mats for the kitchen, dozens of Elizabeth Harbour wooden ornaments, medical alert wristbands from WristBandy for my toddler, a push pin bead ornament kit, drink tags, and novelty t shirts. My favorite is this risqué print I keep in my coffee cupboard. https://www.etsy.com/listing/207633655/?ref=share_ios_native_control I’d also love one of Noah Verrier’s oil paintings of Shake Shack meals!
These prism stickers bring me a lot of joy and will be birthday gifts for all the kids in my life this year: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Plottkowski I had personalized portrait prints made from Lorna’s shop that hang in our entry way. https://www.etsy.com/shop/LornaFreytag A few of these lovely prints hanging in my dragon loving daughters bedroom. https://www.etsy.com/shop/AmariahRauscher This was a project a friend i both did in our houses during COVID and kept in touch with obsessively texting and Marco poloing updates. We both made major changes to it and made it very much our own. It was a great project and our kids still love it each Halloween. https://www.etsy.com/listing/241388806/?ref=share_ios_native_control
Ohhhh I love the dragon prints !! Thanks for the link !!
I love Etsy so, so much. I bought my clip-on vintage-y but new wedding earrings from a shop in Israel (the gorgeous earrings arrived packed in tissue smelling of whatever they were having for lunch!); Etsy is the source of the wood blanks my kids decorate to create Christmas ornaments as gifts each year (mittens, snowgoons, trees . . .). And in the fall, I found temporary tats from an Austin, TX, shop that could be hilariously customized to feature my twin sis bestie’s fiance’s face for her bachelorette party, and the enamel popcorn pin I gave her at the party. So fun!
I am on my third pair of linen pajamas from this shop…they last years and are beautifully made with lots of color options https://www.etsy.com/shop/mooshop
The timing of this post is auspicious! I just launched my Etsy shop in earnest this week. I’m a professional photographer, and in addition to client work, I’m now selling wall prints. Here’s my shop! https://www.etsy.com/shop/shantiknight Like you, I’ve loved Etsy for years, so it’s really exciting to finally be a contributor. Thank you so much for spotlighting this wonderful platform :)
Wow just spent so long going thru all these links and adding so many favorites. Such talented people!
The BBC has reported on issues with Etsy’s reserve system, which holds some sellers’ money. Has this been resolved? I can’t support any organization that actively prevents sellers from getting their funds!
A friend of mine has an Etsy shop called Starry Sky Memories. Her shop specializes in nature themed items. Some of the items can be personalized for celebrating special occasions, keepsakes, family travel, etc. https://www.etsy.com/shop/StarrySkyMemories?ref=shop_sugg_market
This is so fun! I have an Etsy shop focused on Birthday decor and fun can coolers, kids water bottles. I’m always looking for new design ideas of you want to collaborate on something! https://hittheroadjacki.etsy.com
Love this. Right now we must do all we can to support small businesses.
My cousin has had a shop for her adorable illustrations imagining literary characters as children – “Little Versions of Literary Greats.” (She has some fun fantasy-inspired and custom portrait pieces too). The Littlary Maven https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLittlaryMaven Her illustrations are so clever (like the Great Gatsby that shows young Gatz contemplating a daisy, and then the green lantern – so smart!) https://www.etsy.com/listing/1565078870/little-jay-gatsby?ref=shop_home_active_2&frs=1&logging_key=701784932eb7afa5ab474ef985c8e6e6e0baef52%3A1565078870 I just love them (and her).
I love these so much, Ariel!!!! So fun to pair the little Elizabeth and Darcy, or etc.!
These are so whimsical! Little Sherlock Holmes, too cute.
edith zimmerman, a brilliant writer who founded the hairpin, has a shop where she sells really lovely, unique cards and prints – they have so much personality https://www.etsy.com/shop/edithzimmerman a few favorites: mermaids of north america print https://www.etsy.com/listing/1839958466/print-mermaids-of-north-america-85×11 night skies prints https://www.etsy.com/listing/1853573814/print-night-skies-85×11 set of five fruit cards https://www.etsy.com/listing/1865453179/cards-fruit-set-of-5-blank-greeting something about her art really resonates with my toddler son – he has a little collection of her cards and sometimes gets them out to look at <3
ooh I love her! she’s been contributing to Kottke and she always has such a great POV.
Yes! Let’s buy less, but if we do, let’s support the right people! My friend‘s Etsy shop: http://grobundfein.etsy.com/ Lots of quirky fun art.
Sarah Graham from rural Ontario Canada has some wonderful stickers, t-shirts and books for forest lovers. Her newest book Knock Gently is a beautiful poem about looking closely. Her illustrations are delightful. ohemsarahgee

My wonderful friend Lindsay hand knits the most beautiful clothes for little ones including sweaters, cardigans and much more. All her knits are very cute, super soft and of superb quality. My toddler son loves wearing them and will not leave the house without one of her hats! You can find GraciousKids here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GraciousKids
Perfection. No babies in my life yet, but when there are I would love to dress them in Lindsay’s beautiful knits.

Anyone else totally floored by the outpouring of talent from the CoJ comment community?? WOW!
Completely agree!!! This community is amazing – loving, kind, supportive, vulnerable, real, funny – and so talented artistically as well!
My favorite thing about Etsy is being able to find local makers using their filter search. I prefer to support my local makers and since I’m not dialed in on social media, this is such a great tool. It’s how I do almost all my gift shopping.
this is very cool! I didn’t know that was a filter option. thanks for sharing :)
Oh my gosh, wow! Thank you! I’ve used etsy since it was new and did not know of this feature.
this is great! i notice a lot of the clothing etc. on etsy is made overseas, and since i prefer to cut my carbon footprint by cutting shipping distances, this is super helpful. had no idea! thanks for the tip!
It’s also a great way to gift handmade goods to friends in other countries.
I appreciate so many direct links and cant’ wait to follow these shops. My Etsy store is currently inactive because they keep taking more and more fees from sellers. Many sellers I know have stopped using Etsy entirely. As others have said, there are tons of mass produced items on here and hard to tell what is genuine and what is a rip-off. I want to support small artists! Not find a different outlet for the same damn things. Something that can help is adding filters when you are searching if, say, you only want to find items that are made in the US or other specific countries or even states (I think).
Here is a link to mine! https://raquelisabelceramics.etsy.com/
A bit late to the party, but if you’re looking for a good laugh or a funny greeting card, check out my shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/vintageouspapergoods Thanks!
These are ALL absolutely hilarious! It was hard to pic a favorite but I think it was “Every guy thinks that every girl’s dream is to find the perfect guy… Please. Every girl’s dream is to eat without getting fat”
Jeanne, just here to gently clarify that is NOT every girl’s dream.
Jeanne, You and I definitely share the same kind of humor and perhaps genetics? 🤣 Susan, I am enjoying placing an order!
My dear friend, Sara Bergman, is a clothing designer based in Portland. She has got such a creative eye and I love all of her fabrics. https://www.etsy.com/shop/sarabergman
Absolutely love her dresses and am putting one in my cart right now
When I retired a few years ago, I took an adult ed class called “Picasso and Matisse” and fell in love with the latter’s sheaf of leaves. Afterwards, I was thrilled to find sterling silver Matisse inspired leaf earrings at Anne Walker’s Etsy shop. My daughter borrowed them so much that I gave her a birthday gift of her own pair. https://www.etsy.com/shop/annewalkerjewelry/?etsrc=sdt
There are so many wonderful paintings and prints in this shop. I have many of these prints on my walls. I cannot believe the talent this guy has! https://www.etsy.com/listing/235900552/the-socialite-print-accessories-monster?ref=items-pagination-67&crt=1&sts=1&logging_key=30664f7e20871c2f173d4778a770ce3a4910d03d%3A235900552
I don’t know that I have ever been as delighted as when I clicked this link. THANK YOU.

I love your work, Lara!
these are so fun! thank you for sharing!!
I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to introduce my work :) I’ve always had a soft spot for Etsy, there’s something about it that feels so special. Recently, I decided to take the leap and start my own journey here. This year, I finally opened my amber jewelry shop, where I handcraft each piece (earrings, pendants, bracelets, rings) with love and care, using authentic Baltic amber. I’m so excited to share my shop with you :) https://balticdunes.etsy.com
Your jewelry is so beautiful Lora!
I buy freeze dried candy from Snoeps on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1591417832/freeze-dried-candy-sample-pack-10-unique?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=snoeps+candy&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&pro=1&frs=1&bes=1&content_source=d930634234bd37c7d58d88279680ad44b26b92cf%253A1591417832&logging_key=d930634234bd37c7d58d88279680ad44b26b92cf%3A1591417832 I’ve ordered 3 times. For myself and as gifts. It’s so fun and a silly treat!
We are thrilled to share with you our latest collection, “Handmade with Heart: Crafted with Care.” Each item is more than just a product — it’s a labor of love, designed and created with passion and precision. I enjoy crafting custom embroidery messages. It’s always a fun surprise to see the personalized messages that are requested! https://embroiderybysmj.etsy.com/
This post is giving The Internet circa 2013 and there is no nostalgia quite as charming!
Obsessed with these MCM glasses. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1866291760/vintage-boxed-set-of-6-iittala-ultima The seller has so many cute and weird things! Lots of home goods that I love. It’s great to see that there are still individuals and independent makers on the site–you really have to sift through shops these days.
My baby cousin (technically not a baby anymore, but I remember going to the hospital and meeting her so THERE) makes the most delightful and happy needle-felted earrings! From hearts to flowers to carrots (totes adorbs, ready for spring), she puts a lot of love into her work! It’s been a joy to watch her build her business and develop her own unique entrepreneurial lady-boss vibe. What a joy to have cousins. https://www.etsy.com/shop/HoneyLoomDesigns
Goodness, I’ve bought so many things from Etsy over the years! I love these mini talking animal cards: https://www.etsy.com/shop/SniggleStudio?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=151797598&from_page=listing. They’re just the right size to sneak into a loved one’s wallet or lunch box! (I order the wombats and get the colorful envelopes.) My MIL loved this sweatshirt with her grandparent name embroidered in my daughter’s handwriting: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1090390429/unisex-personalized-embroidered?ref=user_profile&pro=1&frs=1&logging_key=ed63c61eccb829cda4139d06715cbf60b3b374cb%3A1090390429. I love these hilarious candles: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JDandKateIndustries?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=798735817&from_page=listing. Thanks to all of you for sharing your shops and links!
Ha, I love JD and Kate Industries, too!! (And I immediately added those talking animal cards to my cart.)
As many have pointed out, there are so many shops these days that don’t really focus on art or handmade items. However, I want to share a shop that truly stands out—it’s called ArtisticSideOfLife, and it features beautiful collage art created by Maya, based in London. You can check out her amazing work here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ArtisticSideOfLife If you’re into unique, handmade art, this is definitely a shop worth exploring!
Ooh, I love that shop. I bought a collage print of a woman standing on the moon from them and have it hanging in my entryway.
Thank you Jo, for allowing us makers to shout out our shops! I make handmade ceramics (mostly wheel-thrown), and my etsy shop is – https://www.etsy.com/shop/TuesdayNightPottery
I positively love browsing Etsy and have a loooooong favorites list on there. It helps when I need to buy a gift for someone. I’m also an avid crafter and quilter and have gotten some amazing patterns. Some of my favorite things I’ve bought over the years- I love this artist’s tiny paintings. I have three and they’re so sweet: https://www.etsy.com/listing/607580081/small-swimmer-print-print-on-canvas-tiny?ref=user_profile I bought these Portugese tile earrings for my mom to commemorate our Camino hike (Portuguese route) and they’re stunning: https://www.etsy.com/listing/491156808/atrio-hoops-earrings-tile-blue-portugal?ref=shop_home_feat_1&frs=1&sts=1&logging_key=1e7828df7cadd2995a65c59a13d7fcdd3336cdfc%3A491156808 I am having a baby in a few weeks and can’t wait to see how this whale light I just bought looks in her nursury! https://www.etsy.com/listing/728126388/humpback-whale-diy-pendant-paperlamp?ref=user_profile&bes=1 This table lamp makes me so happy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1027136115/mooshie-table-lamp-mushroom-lamp-back-to?ref=user_profile&frs=1
My friend Corinne has a great shop with fun stickers and stationery. She just dropped an awesome anglerfish bumper sticker. https://www.etsy.com/shop/marigoldcraftmarket
I recently ordered a custom QR code sticker for my water bottle that is a link to Heather Cox Richardson’s substack, “Letters from an American”. I am constantly telling people to read it if they don’t already, and now I’ll be able to send people straight to her! https://www.etsy.com/listing/1401731213/
What an amazing idea. Yea to HCR!!
This is a really cool idea of how to spread the word!
Hmm these tiny urls don’t got to Etsy 😐
